With roots going all the way back to 1972, Clancy has been delivering industry leading engineering for more than fifty years. Founded by Brian Clancy in South Manchester, the business started out life trading as The Brian Clancy Partnership.

Initially focused on providing civil and structural engineering services in the North West, the Clancy of today has evolved to include 10 offices across the UK. Clancy has also developed international links and has expanded globally by partnering with local firms in India and Oman.

Clancy’s multidisciplinary engineering services, national expertise and local knowledge are renowned amongst its broad client base, evidenced by the many clients who have retained their services for multiple decades.

Triple hire for Alexander Knight & Co following new client wins

Alexander Knight & Co accountants appoint three new recruits to join its growing team

We are delighted to have expanded our team with the appointment of three new colleagues in preparation for further growth in 2022.

Danielle Cresswell, Alastair Tough and Paul Dunn have joined the Alexander Knight & Co team as we also add three new businesses to our entrepreneurial client base.

Selwyns Travel Limited, Lumenpulse UK Limited and Think Hire Limited, have all selected our practice as auditors.

Bringing a wealth of experience from her time working at accountancy practices across the North West region, Danielle Cresswell will provide hands-on support to clients in the role of Manager.

Alastair Tough recently graduated from the University of Warwick and has chosen to take the first steps of his accountancy career with Alexander Knight & Co joining as an Assistant Accountant after relocating from Nottingham.

Paul Dunn joins as Senior Accountant where he will be advising clients on statutory reporting, management accounts and audit.

– Working both independently and in collaboration with other members of the team.

– Plan and lead on complex audits – both remotely and on-site ✅

Flying high with our drones

Accountants using drones to complete audit work

We are proud to be the first accountancy firm in the region to make use of drone technology in audit work for clients.

We have introduced a fleet of drones to undertake verification work for our audit clients who have large or dispersed sites where traditional auditing methods prove difficult or very labour intensive.

Our team is now being trained to fly the drones and the benefits of this approach for our clients are significant.

Drones for audits

We have been testing the use of drones in the audit process for several months now and the results have been successful. Many clients can benefit from the use of this innovative technology. Clients are increasingly seeing them as less of a novelty item and more of a useful business tool.

They are also proving extremely helpful in assessing physical risk before completing audit work in tricky locations.

We hope that by using technology like this, as well as testing other forms of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we can pass the benefits on to both our staff and our clients.

Artificial intelligence

Accountants have been using technology for many years to improve what they do and deliver more value to clients. However, it is important for our profession to keep exploring new methods of working as technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, develops at such a rapid pace.

Drone technology is under the spotlight and new legislation due to be introduced in November 2019 will give police officers the power to land and seize drones. It will also require users to produce a licence.

We firmly  support this new legislation to make sure that drones are used in a safe and responsible way. We are confident that these policies will continue to enable businesses to derive the benefits from this emerging technology
